Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–6 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (217) 525-2571. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 1,257 reviews, which is a strong result for a seafood market in Springfield and suggests consistent service.

Springfield is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Springfield follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Each time I visit Springfield, a stop at Carter’s is a must. If you love fish, particularly catfish, you would undoubtedly appreciate it. The food is fresh, the portions are generous, and the wait is brief. My standard order is the catfish plate, which includes 8 catfish fillets, an amount sufficient to feed 2 people.

Been hearing about Carter's and how amazing they are for years. Turns out the walleye everyone brags on is pollock which in all fairness they say next to it on the menu along with most of the catfish being swai. My girl got the "walleye" pollock and river fries and I got the catfish strips because it said wild caught instead of swai and some okra. Portion sizes aren't bad for the price the pollock was actually really good and the catfish unfortunately was trimmed pretty poorly so there were a quite a few strips that were half fat and bloodline. River fries were done nice and the okra was really greasy. Overall not the worst place thanks to more normal pricing but it's very over hyped.

My boyfriend and I went to Carters Fish yesterday for lunch. Food was amazing, as always. I got the fried catfish. They give the perfect amount of onions pickles and tartar sauce for the perfect bite every time. I’ve had it a few times now and it never disappoints. Highly recommend πŸ–€

When I'm in Springfield I always make a pit stop here. They make some of best fried fish period. Got my favorite walleye fillets 8.9 that comes with pickles, onion plus white bread and some fried okra 8.7. Everything is made to order so once you get you plate it's already piping hot. You get a decent amount of fish for the price too my only complaint is the hot sauce and tartar sauce both are below average. If they could get better sauces would rate this 5 stars. The customer service was great very polite and kind. Overall not a bad spot to grab fried fish anywhere. 8.8
